John Ploetz is an author, writer, poet, blogger, and management professional who resides in St Paul, Minnesota, USA with his wife Dianne and grandson TJ. He graduated from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. His first novel is Oak Eternal. He has also published a number of short story collections and a collection of poems. He is already working on his second novel. "Life is a journey that leads you along many paths. It's a marathon, not a sprint or a short race. Oak Eternal

“Throwing back the cover, I opened it and there was a stale smell of dust. Even though it was dry, it smelled old. I thought to myself that I was the first person to open it since Candace penned the words I was about to read in its pages. I flipped the pages. The pages were filled with simple scribbled writing in what appeared to be pencil. . . . . No, it seemed that this writing was more of a personal nature. It was probably written for her eyes only. In places the pencil was more worn than others, almost indiscernible. As I suspected it was a journal or diary of some kind. I began to read the first entry.
